It’s MONDAY of #VLOGMAS which means it’s time for a Family Wishlist.
You all know how much I love babywearing. It is so practical for us busy mums. I currently have a Lenny Lamb Mint Lace Mei Tai and an Ergobaby. I loved the Mei Tai when Harvey was a tiny baby because he fit in it very well. However, the long ties really got on my nerves. They always dragged on the ground! It was especially gross when I went out in the rainy UK weather… wet and dirty straps dragging the ground as I fiddle with a squirmy small baby. You get the point. I switched to the ergobaby for it’s ease of use. I think at the moment I prefer buckle carriers. They probably only take about 1-2 minutes less to put on, but that’s like a lifetime to a mum.
I’ve always dreamed about a Tula though. They are also buckle carriers and are just so gorgeous! Tulas are one of the most popular and highest rated baby carriers on the market. Mums have said they’re the most comfortable and distribute the weight the best. They also have Tulas designed for both babies and toddlers. It can be quite hard to find specific styles because they are so popular. My favourite Tula style is the arrows.
They are an investment though at a price of $149, but hold their value really well and are very high quality. Many times you can sell the popular styles for higher value.
The main accessory I am dying for is a waterproof, fleece-lined carrier cover hoodies. We’ve taken him out in the carrier with a snow suit type outfit to keep his head, feet and hands warm while I carried him out in the cold weather. I think that was too hot for him because of the additional body heat from us both. When I saw carrier covers, I thought that was the perfect solution. But most of the ones I came across were fleece which wouldn’t be water-resistant… and that is a necessity in the UK. There are a few different types, but the Ergobaby Winter Weather Cover looks like the best for us- especially since it’s specifically for an ergobaby.
I really struggle with finding the right clothes to wear out when I’m breastfeeding. At home, a simple BF tank top and a cardigan or sweater work perfect for us. But I don’t have any other breastfeeding tops or dresses apart from my tanks. I’ve been making do with wearing the tanks under my normal tops, sweaters and v-neck dresses, but it’s not so simple sometimes. I’d really like some proper breastfeeding attire! I found a site called Seraphine that has the most goreous nursing [and maternity] clothes! (A lot of nursing clothes can look super weird in my opinion). This nautical nursing top and the charcoal draped nursing tunic were some of my favs. They are maternity and nursing tops. I also randomly found this lovely knit maternity & nursing sweater while doing a google image search. Does anyone else do this while “online shopping”? 🙂
I first saw breastfeeding necklaces on etsy. They are also called teething necklaces or babywearing necklaces. They are stylish (sometimes) and are safe for your baby to chew on. As many mums knows, babies love to pull and chew on jewelry… especially when they’re nursing or being carried. With nursing necklaces, you don’t have to worry about the necklace being used and abused because that’s what they’re made for! I fell in love with this breastfeeding necklace on etsy, but there are so many beautiful ones out there. I also thought this one was unique. I haven’t seen any made from [BPA free] silicone before and thought it was a great idea. I can imagine it would be a great texture for teething babies.
I’ve shown the Aden + Anais swaddle that I use as a nursing cover on my Mommy & Baby Essentials vlog. I love how big and lightweight they are. The babies don’t get overheated under it and the generous size is great when you’re fiddling around with a tiny newborn or wiggly baby. But with many stressful nursing sessions in public, I can see the benefit of having a proper breastfeeding cover. I found another one on etsy that I love! It is a bamboo breastfeeding cover and is super stylish! you can wear it as a wrap cardigan which is really handy for those moments where you just need to pop the boob in the mouth in a millisecond.
Onto the nursing chair… If you could experience rocking in my current nursing chair, you would understand… It squeaks, squeels, grinds, you name it! With every rock, you get blasted by a high pitched squeak. The sound changes as well. I do not know how the baby can sleep through the noise because it makes me want to pull my hair out. Yet I am required to use it about 10 times a day to soothe him to sleep. If I really need anything, I need a new nursing chair. [Experience my current rocking experience on my “Day in the Life” vlog part 1 and part 2. I found this nursing glider on a google search. It is super modern and is one of those pieces that you can use well after you and the baby no longer require it. I like the wingback style because you can easily take a quick nap comfortably… I don’t know about anyone else, but I rock myself to sleep sometimes.
I have been on the essential oil bandwagon for awhile now. I current stash consists of Young Living’s Valor, Lavender, Peace & Calming and Thieves oil. One day when I was browsing Pinterest- one of my favourite past times!- I came across Young Living’ Everyday Oil set & Diffuser. I thought this would be the perfect [more expensive] gift for the EO lovers out there. The set contains Lemon, Lavender, Peppermint, Frankincense, Joy, Valor, Thieves, PanAway, Purification, Peace & Calming. These are great staple EOs and could complete a stash quite well.
Now I know I’m not the only coffee loving mama out there. But like many, my coffee drinking days are pretty much over since becoming pregnant and now breastfeeding. Don’t get me wrong, I had my fair share of iced lattes towards the end of the pregnancy, but I said “no” to caffeine more times than I thought I had the strength to. Now that I’m breastfeeding, my caffeine intake is even lower. I find it easier to avoid caffeine now that Harvey is on the outside. [I know how bad that might sound] I am a bit afraid of dealing with the reprocussions of him consuming the caffeine- sleeplessness, weird behaviour, etc.
With all that being said, I would still love an espresso coffee machine. I do love my iced lattes and dirty chai lattes! I have also dreamed of being a barista at a hipster, hole in the wall coffee shop with an amazing reputation of having the “best coffee in town”. I think having my own espresso machine would be fabulous for “those” days.
And who wouldn’t love the smell of freshly brewed coffee lingering throughout their house?!
